Invitation to the Mexican Consulate Flag-Raising Ceremony on September 16
We are delighted to extend our warmest invitation to you for the Mexican Flag-Raising Ceremony, organized by the Consulate of Mexico in Calgary, in celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day. The ceremony will take place on September 16, 2023, at Calgary City Hall, located at 800 Macleod Trail SE, Calgary, AB T2G 5E6, starting at 10:30 a.m.
This event promises to be special as the Mexican Consulate has the honour of hosting Minister Muhammad Yaseen, Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism for Alberta. Minister Yaseen will join Consuls Juana María Ruiz and Javier Aguilar, to commemorate this significant occasion. Additionally, Minister Yaseen will make a historic announcement, officially declaring September as ‘Mexico Heritage Month’ in the province of Alberta. This recognition is a significant milestone for Mexico, the Mexican community, and all Hispanic members residing in our province.
We are also pleased to announce that Mexican folkloric dance groups, “Dancing for Mexico,” “Ireri Smiles Mexican Folkloric Ballet,” and “Mariachi Sol Azteca,” will perform at the event. Their performances will add a vibrant and cultural touch to the celebration.
The Hispanic Arts Society is delighted to be part of this historic moment and excited to collaborate on this event, which holds great importance within the Hispanic community. We believe that celebrating our heritage and culture is essential for fostering unity and understanding among diverse communities.
We extend this invitation to all members of our Hispanic and non-Hispanic community. Let’s come together to commemorate the 213th Anniversary of Mexico’s Independence Day and celebrate the rich diversity of our shared heritage.
